Temazcal in Riviera Maya
Ancestral Wellness Ritual at Blue Diamond Wellness Resort

Facilities
A Space Designed for the Ritual Experience
Built from stone and featuring a single entrance, the temazcal is an enclosed space where volcanic stones, known as “grandmother stones”, are heated over an open fire. When water and aromatic herbs are poured over them, steam is generated, creating an immersive atmosphere that encourages deep relaxation and sensory connection.
The setting has been thoughtfully designed to accompany every stage of the ceremony and create a wellness experience immersed in nature.

Before the Ceremony
Preparing for the Experience
Before the ritual begins, the shaman performs a cleansing ceremony with copal smoke, helping participants prepare mentally and emotionally for the experience.
During the ceremony, guided by chants, ceremonial sounds and different ritual stages, the temazcal door is opened four times to add new hot stones and maintain the intensity of the heat and steam.

After the Ceremony
A Sense of Well-Being and Renewal
At the end of the ceremony, participants often experience a profound sense of physical and emotional renewal. The heat and steam help encourage muscular relaxation and a deep feeling of rest and disconnection.
From a wellness perspective, the temazcal invites introspection, helps release accumulated tension and promotes a sense of balance between body, mind and emotions. Each ceremony becomes an opportunity to reconnect with yourself and with the natural surroundings of Riviera Maya.
